Peppermint Cocoa and Balsam and Cedar

Yes, It is the end of may and I’m burning some Christmas scents.

Peppermint Cocoa: I don’t think I’ve done a formal review of this one but I’ve talked about it a few times. This one has been a treasure the last two years, so it is only available as a large jar or tart. The large jars are notorious for tunneling, even if you use and Illumalid and/or foil. However, the scent is wonderful and is a medium-strong throw…so tunneling was worth it in my opinion. The mix of chocolate and mint is well balanced. It, to me, smells like a tootsie roll flavored hot chocolate with a melted candy cane mixed in. It definitel gets you in the Christmas spirit and makes me want a Panera Mint Hot Chocolate (which is about 450 calories, btw).

Balsam and Cedar: This is the quintessential holiday scent. It smells just like a freshly cut sprig of pine with some woody notes. Any one who has ever made (or smelled) a holiday wreath with pine cones and balsam branches will say that this candle smells very true to life. The pine is just perfect and goes well in the background of any holiday party. The throw of this votive was decent, but the jar candles and tumblers are much stronger.

  1. I love Balsam and Cedar! It’s one of the first scents I purchased from Yankee Candle and now it can smell like Christmas all year in my house. I agree, though, the large tumbler puts out A LOT more throw as opposed to the votive. I just happened to stumble upon your site and I can’t wait to read more. ๐Ÿ™‚
