My December candle scent of choice is Spice Island Holiday, a Yankee Candle World Journey that frequents the Homegoods/TJMaxx/Marshalls circuit around this time. This Sri Lanka inspired scent has been around for a while, but this is my first time trying it.
The Scent: I actually thought I was burning Sparkling Cinnamon! Seriously, I forgot that this candle was even Spice Island Holiday until I took the picture to review it! It is a cinnamon scent, and I cannot tell if it is a copy or not of Yankee Candle’s Sparkling Cinnamon. So of course I like it (I’m a big Sparkling Cinnamon fan), but it is not a unique scent. So: freshly ground cinnamon with some sugar crystals mixed in. A-
The Throw: Not bad…it’s a light-medium to medium strength throw. I’ve had stronger cinnamon-based scents, but it is definitely detectable! It’s another great “background” scent that I would buy again! B
Overall, Spiced Island Holiday, in my opinion, is a copy of Sparkling Cinnamon. It is a wonderful scent, but, for a World Journey, is nothing special.
PS: How cute is that snow globe candle holder! Jenna showed hers a few posts back (the snowman theme). I got the tree theme…and there was a peppermint theme. These where snagged for 50% off at last year’s Semi Annual Sale and have been available at the Yankee Candle outlets!
