Salt Water Taffy

I finally got to melt Salt Water Taffy, one of the new summer 2015 Yankee Candle scents. The scent of salt water taffy is so nostalgic for me, so I am loving this “boardwalk trend” I am seeing in the candle world. Jenna and I spent many summer weekends going to the beaches down Cape Cod, and I remember seeing the salt water taffy being pulled fresh in the windows of the local candy stores.

My quick thoughts: I love this creamy scent, I just wish the throw was a tad stronger!

salt water taffyThe Scent: This version of Salt Water Taffy is creamy and fruity with dashes of vanilla. I actually cannot pick out any specific fruit scents, but that mix of fruit is perfectly enhanced by that creamy note! A-

The Throw: I’d call this throw average….I could smell it as a light-medium in my living room, but it quickly faded into the background (aka my nose got used to the scent very quickly.) So, not terrible, and definitely smellable, but I wish I was one notch stronger! B-

marathonSo, how does Yankee Candle’s Salt Water Taffy match up to the Better Homes and Gardens Fresh Pulled Taffy? I prefer the Yankee Candle scent! The BH&G version was more fruity, and I enjoy that true cream note which was more dominate in the Yankee Candle version. But, the throw for the BH&G version was superior!

As an aside, I ran my second half marathon today! I am really enjoying my new running hobby! Thank you for all the support! ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. YES, you go girl!!! I was thinking of you recently and wondering when this second HM would be. Great job! I’m proud of and happy for you!!! (I’m still taking daily walks and treated myself to a Polar M400. I’ve been using it for three days only but right now I’m in love with it! <3)

Salt Water Taffy sounds good — if it ever appears in Europe, I'll have to try it!

By the way: I'm down to 2 small jars (from 20 in January) — which is also going to make my move a lot easier this Friday! ๐Ÿ™‚ I guess I'll stick with tarts/votives in the near future.

    • Martina, you go girl too! That’s great!!! I love hearing these updates…and down to 2 small jars, that is amazing! I hope I can get through a few more before I move as well! ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Love your blog! I’m a new YC collector and I’ve really enjoyed going back through your posts and learning about older scents.

I have the Salt Water Taffy tart but haven’t melted it yet. The Salt Water Taffy candles in the store actually smelled a little bit like sour milk to me on cold sniff. Is it just me?

    • Hi Eugenie, Thank you so much! I felt like Salt Water Taffy smelled differently to me every time I smelled it cold! I haven’t gotten sour milk yet, but I kept smelling different degrees of creaminess! Hope you like the melted scent! ๐Ÿ™‚
